Buoyant|Manipulating Gravity

Buoyant (2018) examines how human perception influences the ways in which we construct our understanding of reality. It is through unexpected encounters that contradict the preconceived beliefs that our reality becomes fragile. Buoyant is an interactive virtual environment where the user can navigate through different sections to enable the experience of varying degrees of gravity. There are objects floating up and down in each of the nine translucent rooms. Once these objects are grabbed, they become subject to the gravity of each room. The design of the space is inspired by a painting by Hilma af Klint (her abstract painting is reinterpreted as a map).
